From the Mind of an Artist

Iffat Khan

Ever been to an Art Gallery and felt a deep sensation from within when looking at a certain painting or work of art?

That’s because when an artist creates a piece of art, they literally pour their heart and soul into it. The painting becomes a part of them. Their personality, thoughts and feelings are deeply embedded and reflected in their work... and it can be difficult to let go at times.

With every brush stroke, they express something that they may have never shared with others. Maybe it is a strong yearning for the one whose name they are writing or painting...

Not only that, artists possess a special curiosity and love for art that enables them to see splendour in a derelict building or find fascination in a barren tree. It allows us to appreciate the effort another artist has put behind every piece of coloured glass in a mosaic. The whole of creation is a work of art if you observe closely enough.

Often, people manage and express their innermost thoughts and feelings in different ways; whether it’s through therapy, dialogue, socialising, sports, music, poetry, writing or art. I personally think that there are some feelings that don’t have words but can be found in art.
